Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow recipes to prepare beverages that meet quality standards
- Prepare beverages following recipes and that meet quality standards
- Answer customers questions regarding ingredients or the menu
- Take orders while paying attention to details
- Prepare basic lunchtime menu items and baked goods
- Package finished chocolate and confections
- Serve customers quickly and efficiently
- Table or Counter service-delivery of beverages and prepared food
- Receive and process payments (cash, debit, and credit cards)
- Hourly cleaning of all public areas including washrooms
- Cleaning of all behind counter areas including all machines, fridges,
- Maintain adequate inventory and order in timely fashion
- Stocking the display case
- End of day cleaning front and back of house, locking/securing location at end of shift
- Perform regular maintenance on brewing equipment
- Trouble shoot brewing equipment issues and report
- Comply with food safety, health, and safety regulations
- Communicate customer feedback to Operations Manager
- Open and close the POS system
Qualifications and Requirements
Requirements
- Valid Food Safe certificate is a requirement of this role.
- Adherence to Shade Tree Chocolate Studio’s COVID-19 policy-all staff are required to wear a mask at all times when on Shade Tree property.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Knowledge of COVID-19 regulations and ability to enforce when required
- Knowledge of Simonelli Espresso Machine, use, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Ability to follow direction
- Problem solving
- Basic mathematical skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Multitasking
Working Conditions
Physical Abilities
- This position can be physically demanding. The ability to stand for long periods of time, bending and kneeling are necessary to perform the job.
- Must have ability to lift to shoulder height up to 30 pounds on occasion
- This role is located at the Shade Tree Chocolate Studio and will work in a climate-controlled environment.
- This role is primarily front of house with some time spent in kitchen prep areas.
- There are physical hazards (such as burning oneself) and chemical hazards (cleaning chemicals) associated with this position.
- Stress of multiple order and speed required to attend customers
- Keeping track of customers and orders
- Customer service conflicts may cause mental stress
- Noisy environment from machines, customers and background music
