Here are some answers to questions customers have asked in the past.

1. Who usually orders custom molds from Shade Tree Chocolate Studio?

• Businesses who need thank you gifts to customers as they either pick up their products, or as they pay for large ticket services.
• Businesses or Organizations at Tradeshows who use them to entice passers by to come check out a booth / display. (So far, these chocolates have made it as far as South Korea.)
• Organizers who want custom chocolates to use as delegate thank yous when registering for an annual conference, and/or as a sweet treat at a dinner table for large fund raising galas.
• A special treat to mark a major milestone / anniversary event.
• Shade Tree has made use of our own logo piece in a variety of ways, with the focus on branded chocolates. One excellent use we’ve found for the individually wrapped chocolates is as an excellent ice breaker to initiate a conversation when at any kind of networking event, whether it be at “networking specific events, conferences, tradeshows and meetings. Just this act of handing out a chocolate as a way to start a conversation has worked very well for us. 

​2. How much does it cost to have custom molds made?

• In general, 2 inch round custom molds run at $1200 to get created. This includes the design and set up costs, creating 13 (8 cavity) molds and shipping from the professional manufacturer. If molds end ip being worn or need replacing, they cost about $15 a mold thereafter.

​3. What is the lead time for producing the molds and chocolates?

• About 15 business days from approval of the company provided image. This is during the regular season. Turn around times increase the closer you get to major chocolate holiday production seasons like Christmas, Valentine’s day and Easter.
• As for the chocolate, depending on the quantity needed, and the time of year (high chocolate season vs low chocolate season) we say it takes about 2 weeks to get an order in and through production. This accommodates other projects that are already on the go at the shop.​

4. What are the size and shape options for custom molds?

• Our supplier can do pretty much any size and shape. We usually tend to suggest 2 inch round pieces (depending on the logo) as they are a good size to make an impression, but not so big that it’s too much chocolate to comfortably eat in one sitting.

5. What is the minimum chocolate order quantity and rough cost?

• A minimum order starts at 200 pieces, and if the size you’ve chosen is a 2 inch round, that would be about $360 plus tax for the chocolate. This is based on 1 flavor of chocolate.

6. What types of chocolate can be used with these molds?

• You can have milk, dark or white chocolates, quotes are generally based on one flavor, but if you need something different, we’ll be happy to discuss it.

7. Do you offer any packaging options for chocolates made from custom molds?

• We package in clear, self sealing plastic bags with a Co-branded label on the back. If you need something different, we’ll be happy to discuss that.

8. What is the process for submitting a design or logo?
